The thoracic surgery program at Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute is well established as a regional leader. Our specialized team of surgeons perform more than 250 surgeries annually, qualifying our program as one of the busiest thoracic surgery programs in the Southeast.

Physicians in this area specialize in non-cardiac thoracic pathology. This specialty includes, but is not limited to:

• Benign and malignant pulmonary lesions including lung cancer

• Mediastinal masses

Treatment options are tailored for each patient. When appropriate, minimally invasive surgical techniques are used.

Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute cardiologists and surgeons have a standing daily morning conference where patient cases are presented (either directly or via teleconference) for discussion between various subspecialties to determine the best course of action. We believe this careful consideration of options and alternatives results in the most effective course of action for our patients.
