Dr. Peeler is the Chief of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery at Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute. His expertise includes the full spectrum of pediatric and adult congenital cardiothoracic surgery. In 2007, Dr. Peeler won the University of Virginia School of Medicine Dean's Award for Clinical Excellence, given to a faculty member who demonstrates exemplary patient service and a high level of clinical skill.

Dr. Peeler has special interests in complex neonatal repair surgery, as well as single ventricle palliation including specific interest in treatment of hypoplastic left heart syndrome. He also has vast experience with simple and complex atrioventricular canal surgeries, complex valve repair and support of the failing heart, including assist devices and transplantation.
